About

Famous for co-creating DC Comics' Batman character with artist Bob Kane, he also made major contributions to the development of Green Lantern. He was not recognized for his work until after his death but was awarded posthumous membership in both the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame and the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame.

Before Fame

Following his graduation from The Bronx, New York's DeWitt Clinton High School, he sold shoes before becoming a ghostwriter for Bob Kane's Clip Carson and Rusty comic strips.
