She is best known for her recurring roles on several soap opera series' including Downton Abbey where she played Nanny West, Coronation Street where she played Debbie Allinson, and Casualty where she played Jan Jennings.Â
She studied both English and Drama at Warwick University. She then went on to train at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts in London where she earned her Equity card in 1980. Her on-screen acting career started in 1986 when she landed the role of Officer Kyle on the series Screen Two. She made her feature film debut later on in 1997 when she played Jean Lewis in Twin Town.Â
