He studied at BI Norwegian School of Business. In 2001, he bought the mobile phone company Chess for 4 million NOK, and eventually became highly visible in the media due to continual PR stunts. After an additional acquisition, he sold the company to TeliaSonera for 2.4 billion NOK.
He was the main owner of a surveillance technology company called DynaPel, which lost him over 200 million NOK. He would wind up losing the money he earned from selling Chess which put him back in the mobile game when he established a new company called Ludo Mobil.
He is the son of a fisherman and grew up as the youngest of eight siblings in Roan municipality on Fosenhalvøya in Sør-Trøndelag.
