He was attending John Browne High School when then-unknown rapper Nas approached him after his classes ended. He wanted him to mix his demo of his now-legendary album Illmatic. Though he refused a producer credit on the demo, it still became his big break and he continued to work with Nas.
He was the front man for the Toronto hip hop band Main Source, of which K-Cut and Sir Scratch were also members. He went solo after a while and focused more intensely on his producer career.
