Lawyer who rose to fame as the 131st President of the Government of Catalonia upon assuming office in May 2018. He had previously taken office in the Parliament of Catalonia in January 2018 as an independent candidate and ardent supporter of Catalonia's independence.

He graduated with his law degree from Autonomous University of Barcelona in 1985. He was first hired to work for the multinational corporation Winterthur Group as a lawyer.
